Pharmacological effects
Lasix is a «loop» diuretic of rapid action, sulfonamide derivant. The action mechanism is related to the reabsorbtion blockade of sodium and chlorine ions in ascending knee of Henle’s loop. The drug acts on convoluted tubules, and this effect is not related to the carbonic anhydrase inhibition or antialdosteronic activity. Lasix possess diuretic, natriuretic, chloruretic actions. It also increases the kalium, calcium, magnesium excretion. When you take the drug the beginning of diuretic effect is presented during the first hour and maximal action is achieved within 1-2 hours after medication taking, the duration of diuretic effect is 6-8 hours.
Indications:
- edema syndrome of different genesis (including those with chronic heart failure of II-III phases, hepatic cirrhosis, portal hypertension syndrome, nephrotic syndrome);
- nephatony;
- acute left ventricular failure (paroxysmal dyspnea, pulmonary edema);
- cerebral edema;
- edemas caused by burns;
- hypertension (including some forms of hypertensive crisis);
- artificial diuresis.
